Introduction

We all want to get the most out of our businesses.  In business, there are various methods that can be used to increase sales and profits.  For a party plan or direct sales business, HOSTESS COACHING is the key!  Described in this article are the methods that can be employed to coach your hostess.  These techniques, if they are used properly, will help you get the most out of your shows and maximize your profits.

As any great tool used in sales, a small amount of work is needed to make the tool work and Hostess Coaching is no different.  What is hostess coaching?  Hostess coaching is the process by which you coach your hostess from the beginning of the party planning cycle, the booking, and continue with constant contact and guidance through the day of the show and continue until the show closes.  Following these tips will create bigger shows by having more guests and getting the most out of those guests when you are demonstrating for them.

Importance of Maximizing Your Show Revenue

Booking shows is not an easy task, so making the most of the shows you do have is essential to the success of your party plan business.  The ultimate goal is to maximize the revenue of each show.  The best tool to achieve this goal is Hostess Coaching.  These coaching techniques are used by many successful party plan consultants.

The following example demonstrates the importance of getting the most out of your shows.  If you currently have 75 shows in one year with an average sales of $350 for each show your sales for the year will be $350.00 X 75 = $26.250.00.  If you were to increase your shows attendance and sales figures by, say 30%, your average party revenue would become $455 and those same parties you had would generate revenue of $34,125.00.  The result is an increase of $7,875.00 for doing basically the same amount of work.  As you will see, the techniques I describe below place more of the effort on your hostess instead of you.  You have your hostess complete most of your work by simply coaching her along the party process.

SIDE NOTE:  You need to take charge and be the manager of your business.  It is not enough to simply book shows, show up the day of the show, collect orders then you are finished.  You will fall behind everyone else.  As the owner and manager of your business, you need to have metrics to measure your success.  Metrics are things that you can track and build as you learn more about your business and try different approaches.  Some approaches are better than others. You will need to know which techniques to use and not guess at which approach to take to make your business grow. Two easy metrics to track are your average show revenue and average number of guests for each show.  Measure and track these two metrics and look for trends.  Continually do a 5 or 7 show average to eliminate the highs and lows.  These trends should always be increasing.

Preparing Your Hostess through Coaching

This section talks about the specific tips used to coach your hostess.  The most successful consultants are in constant contact with their hostesses during the time leading up to the show.   This section explains techniques and situational scenarios that you will encounter and how to deal with them.  There are seven main topics of the hostess coaching process described below.  The effort you put into these ideas is directly proportional to the results you get from them!

The bottom line is the more you perfect your skills in coaching the more sales and profits you will enjoy.  Each topic section below contains one hostess card along with an explanation of the cards purpose.  In addition, the section gives you tips on what to do during the period leading up to the show.

The first five cards can be handed out at once when the hostess books her show.  This is the most preferred method.  Carry these hostess cards in hostess packs to your parties to give out as shows are booked.  They can also be mailed in the timeline outlined in the sections below, but this can get expensive.  The last two cards should be given to the hostess one-on-one or mailed after the completion of their show.  Click Here to find the seven hostess cards formatted and ready to print.  Use colored “Card Stock” paper to add a look for your hostess.  Print them as they are needed to support your business.
